Special precaution for COVID-19

 [Icelandic Polish - Spanish Lithuanian]

Special precaution is used when an individual has had possible exposure to COVID-19 but quarantine is not considered necessary. You may have had contact with or frequented the same place as someone subsequently diagnosed with COVID-19. The date of the last contact with the infected person is called date of exposure. A notification of possible exposure could come from the contact tracing team, workplace or school.

Special precaution is not quarantine. Special precaution means:

  • You may attend work or school.
  • It is important to exercise caution and pay special attention to personal infection control.
  • Limit contact with vulnerable individuals and others as much as possible.
  • Be especially aware of any symptoms. If symptoms occur, go for a PCR-test immediately.

Main symptoms of COVID-19: Fever, cough, cold symptoms, sore throat, weakness, tiredness, headache, bone/muscle aches, sudden change of sense of smell or taste, abdominal pain and diarrhea.

Invidiuals with symptoms of COVID-19 should go immediately for PCR-testing. A test because of symptoms can be ordered on Heilsuvera Mínar síður, if you do not have electronic ID, or from Heilsuvera web chat. Otherwise call your health center during daytime hours, or outside daytime hours Læknavaktin at 1700 (+354 544 4113). PCR-test results are sent via message in Heilsuvera or email.
