Special precaution due to COVID-19

 [Icelandic Polish - Spanish Lithuanian]

Special Precautions are recommended if you have been exposed to COVID-19.

You are considered exposed if you have been in contact with or in the same place as someone who then was diagnosed with COVID-19 one or two days later. The day you were in contact with the infected person is called the day of exposure.

Those exposed to COVID-19 could be infected themselves and they are encouraged to follow Special Precautions for 5 days to protect others. However, after a confirmed infection in the last 6 months, the risk of re-infection is considered low.

Special Precautions for 5 days after exposure means:

  • Should avoid, as much as possible, places where many people gather.
  • Should wear a facemask if in a crowd or around unrelated people.
  • It is fine to attend work or school.
  • It is fine to seek necessary services, e.g. health care and fetch supplies at stores.
  • It is fine to use public transport.
  • Should not visit health care facilities, including nursing homes, unless the visit is important due to special circumstances.
  • Should avoid contact with people who are at increased risk of severe illness if they become infected with COVID-19.
  • Exercise caution and pay special attention to personal infection control: Respect physical distancing from unrelated people, use a facemask, pay attention to ventilation and hand cleaning.
  • Pay close attention to symptoms and if symptoms occur, go for a COVID-19 test immediately.

Main symptoms of COVID-19:
Fever, cough, cold symptoms, sore throat, weakness, tiredness, headache, bone/muscle aches, sudden change of sense of smell or taste, abdominal pain and diarrhea.
