Children born in 2005 and later who travel and border measures due to COVID-19

  • Children born in 2005 and later are exempt from presenting a negative PCR-test certificate.
  • Children born in 2005 and later who travel with a parent/guardian are obliged to quarantine on arrival in the country but are exempt from screening after travel.
  • The parent/guardian has his/her the first border test and the child is released from quarantine when the parent receives a negative result from the second test (usually after 5–6 days).
  • Children travelling alone (without parent/guardian), or with parent/guardian who is exempt from testing, are required to be tested after 5 days of quarantine after arrival.
  • If the children do not have the maturity or ability to respect the measures that are a prerequisite for some members of the household to be quarantined and others not, then the whole household is in quarantine. See also special instructions for children in quarantine.
  • No one with symptoms that may be compatible with COVID-19 should attend school or work, but go for testing as soon as possible. Symptom testing can be ordered at or by calling the health centre (outside daytime hours Læknavaktin at 1700).

For more information, see instructions for home quarantine.
