Nýleg tviblind slembuð rannsókn á 4071 konu sýndi að ekki var marktækur munur á árangri við notkun ósamsettrar hormónameðferðar (levonorgestrel) sem var gefin í einum skammti 1,5mg samanborið við það sem almennt er ráðlagt í dag það er 0,75 mg x 2 með 12 klukkustunda millibili. Þungunartíðni var 1,5% og 1,8%.
